Donation Guidelines
The Friends of the Redwood City Public Library welcome your donations
of books in suitable condition for resale in our bookstore and at the
quarterly book sales.
The following items are acceptable:
- Encyclopedias - only World Book and Encyclopedia Brittanica
from 1998 to current date.
- National Geographics - no other magazines
- Travel guides - not older than two years of current
date
- Categories including: fiction, history, cookbooks,
non-fiction, reference, art, how-to, large print books, sports, parenting,
classics, text books, trade paper books, religion, philosophy, VCR tapes,
audio CDs, children's books, coffee table books, biography, short stories,
humor, poetry, science, foreign language
The following items are unacceptable:
- Books that have been stored in damp areas
- (garages, basements, outdoors) or books riddled with bugs, or that
display mold, or are covered with dirt
- Computer books
- Diet books
- Medical books including psychology books older than
three years of current date
- Paperback books that are torn, tattered, yellowed,
have covers missing, pages falling out
- Reader's Digest Condensations
- Records of any type - 33 1/3's, 45's, 78's
- Sets of books that are out-dated i.e.: science and
inventions, etc. Publishing date must be within three years of current
year
- Text books older than three years
Proceeds from sales are given to the Redwood City Public Library
to fund community programs, the children's reading program, special events
and purchases not covered within the annual budget.
